St Agnes - Day 1

Here's a visual record of a what will undoubtedly be a historic trip, lasting long in birding lore after I join my enemies, friends and dogs in Valhalla.

St Michael's Mount - this is monument built to celebrate when we used to own France and as a helpful landmark for birders arriving back into Penzance

After a brief inspection it was decided that this boat would suffice

I've got rights! Paperwork and everything...

Balearic Shearwater - with a Gannet friend. We actually had three Balearics in Mount Bay, whilst waiting for the ship to sail. Shortly into the journey I spied a raft of at least six on sea, they took flight and quickly became nine - then shit loads. Basically shit loads of Balearics.

Say what? Sooty and a what, a large, a Great, like Great Shearwater. LIFER.

Great Shearwaters

Despite the mixed forecast we arrived into stunning conditions on Agnes. A nice selection of common migrants; Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Whitethroat kept us entertained.

One of two Greenshanks in Covean

Presumed avian bird flu casualty on Gugh bar - one of two

Great Black-backed Gull disembowelling a rabbit

Ah, how nice #SmokeWeedEveryday

We closed down proceedings with the log in the Turk's - with much optimism and chat of Yanks...
