Little Auk - Stowmarket - November 2011

On this day in 2011 I saw my first Little Auk - not in the Barents Sea or off Rattray Head where I would go on to see them, but in my friend John's bath tub in Stowmarket!

The bird was found by members of the public, well in land, near Lackford if I recall correctly. It was then handed into the visitor centre at Lackford Lakes and taken into care by John, before he transferred it to the animal hospital at East Winch. The animal hospital administered food ahead of a releasing ASAP, as Little Auks do not fare well in captivity. It was certainly a memorable way to see my first Little Auk!
